Miracles Part 1

Another thing that I am passionate about is miracles. There is a song that Delirious released in their latest CD that has become one of my favorites:

I’m waiting here for my life to change,
When the waters stir you can rearrange me.
Just one touch is all I need,
I’ve nothing much but the wounds I feel,
I’m looking for the hand of the miracle man.

Holy, you are holy,
Who was and is and is to come.
Holy, you are holy, Saviour, Healer,
I’m standing at the feet of the miracle maker.

I’m holding on, with your life in mine,
Living water’s come,
And you’ve rearranged me.

Holy you are holy,
Who was and is and is to come.
Holy, you are holy,
Saviour, healer,
I’m staring in the face of the miracle maker.

Holy, you are holy,
Who was and is and is to come.
Jesus, precious Jesus,
Thank you, Saviour,
I’m walking in the shoes of my miracle maker.
I’m standing with the faith of a miracle maker.

CS Lewis defined miracles as follows:
"I use the word Miracle to mean an interference with Nature by supernatural power." He describes the integration of miraculous intervention and the natural world in this way: "It is therefore inaccurate to define a miracle as something that breaks the laws of Nature.

I happen to believe that the way the world works is determined by decisions. I happen to believe that God, although is in control of all atoms in the universe, part of that control manifests in his letting us decide things on our own. He equips us, instructs us, shows us how great and vast his gift is, informing us of how dreadful things are apart from Him, and then He lets us choose so that the purest form of love for Him can exist. I do not intend to engage an unecessary debate about predestination vs. free will, that is not my intention. I also must make it clear that, if you are familiar with the way the debate goes, I don't believe in open theism simply because I don't think God can be surprised or chooses not to know things. I believe He knows everything past present and future regardless of how indecisive we are, but the fact that He knows what shirt I'm using tomorrow does not mean I am not choosing, just the same as a man knows his beloved will choose yellow apples over red ones, the beloved is not forced by Him to choose yellow, and can always choose red.
In the same way, another attribute that God has enters in apparent conflict with this thing I believe. This is the timelessness of God. Some understand this attibute as how time does not apply to God. That all past, present and future occurr in one instant in God's mind, however unfathomable that could sound. Sinee He has no beggining nor an end, that means he is ageless, hence time does not affect Him. I don't think that is how God's timelessness works. I think God holds time itself. He is the ticking metronome that makes the universe breathe and grow. If time happened in one instant to God, then we would have to overlook that He promised not to remember the sins of the world before the flood. He said He would remember His covenant by placing an arch in the skies.
I realize I could be wrong. I realize I can only have futile theories about God and I may or may not get somewhat close to what he really is. Truth is, I don't know, you don't know, no one knows. I can only tell you that He is far more mysterious than what one doctrine alone can grasp, and realizing this fact does not fall into relativism, it only is a humbling realization that your mind, the brightest minds of the history of mankind just won't ever fully understand God. God isn't relative, He simply is what He is, and He is beyond our reasoning. The more we remember this, not only we will be more confused about Him, but the neat part is that in that confusion we will find peace because the answers are locked in Heaven, and with a kiss that seal will be broken and the final truth of the unfathomable vastness of God will be revealed. Like the most powerful thunder that resounds from the skies, in the same way our hearts will beat when we see Him for the first time.

Anyway... both sin and miracles will be my upcoming posts.

yeah, you were right, bud. you do expand into other things rather different than what it started out to be. I like your blog because everything makes me think (not only that my thoughts seem rather futile compared to all you musings) but aboutso many things. pretty cool, dude.
